Act of revenge: Youths open fire at jeweller's house in Ratlam

INDORE: Two sharpshooters of Maratha gang were arrested within two hours of opening fire at a jeweller's house in Ratlam Manakchouk locality in broad daylight on Tuesday, who committed the act to avenge the arrest of their accomplices, who had threatened the same jeweller in the name of a jailbird and history-sheeter Sudhakar Rao Maratha.
Earlier on Monday, two youths had arrived at a jewellery showroom owned by Rakesh Saklecha in Ratlam's Chandni Chowk area and introduced themselves as aides of the history-sheeter, currently lodged in Jaipur jail in Rajasthan.The duo had, subsequently, threatened the jeweller to arrange Rs 5 lakh cash, besides giving free gold jewellery to Maratha's mother and wife, who would later arrive at the showroom to collect it.
But not cowing down to the duo's threat, one of the jeweller's staffer summoned the police in time, after which, one of the youths identified as Rakesh Meena, resident of Ratlam, was arrested. Angered with the arrest, two Maratha shooters, decided to teach the jeweller a lesson, who reached Saklecha's house on a motorbike and opened indiscriminate fire. No one was, however, hurt in the firing.
"Coming to know about the firing in broad daylight, we cordoned off the area and arrested the youths within an-hour-and-half from Omkala road in Krishi Upaj Mandi area, 5km from the jeweller's house," superintendent of police (SP-Ratlam) GK Pathak said.
While one of the arrested shooters has been identified as Arvind Thakur alias Tarzan, 28, resident of Sagar district, the other one Sonu Bariya alias Chana, 25, is a resident of Ratlam.
