WHAT a proud moment when we were glued to the television set watching Datuk Nicol David, our World No 1 squash player, weightlifter Mohd Hafifi Mansor and our mixed team badminton lifting the gloom and doom at the 20th Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, Scotland.

Our athletes’ minds were tormented by the horrific crash of MH17 which claimed 298 lives, with 43 Malaysians on board and 82 of them from the Commonwealth countries, but they showed great restraint, respect and unity.
