Minor girl tears scalp in a freak Ferris wheel accident

BHOPAL: A ride on Ferris wheel on Eid day proved costly for a 5-year-old girl in Gwalior on Tuesday afternoon. Muskan suffered critical injuries as her hair got stuck during the ride and left her without a major portion of scalp. Having lost her hair and one ear in the incident, she was admitted to Jayarogya Hospital, where her condition is stated to be critical.Owner of the Ferris wheel has been arrested for negligence in operating the ride. Incident took place at Jhoola Mohalla of Gende Wali Sadak area. Muskan had gone to attend fair with her father and mother, and was enjoying the ride before her long hair got entangled in the pivot of the wheel. As the ride approached downwards, her hair came out peeling off her skin and one of her ears, said police sources. "Owner Narendra Mahawar had allowed more than the permitted capacity of children on the ride.
He didn't stop the ride even after hearing the child's cries," sub-inspector Girwarlal posted at Inderganj police station told TOI.
"She is in trauma centre and according to hospital sources, she is likely to undergo neuro surgery late on Tuesday night," he added.
