A 16-year-old girl was allegedly gang-raped by five persons at gunpoint in Uttam Nagar here earlier this month.

In her complaint, the victim alleged that the accused had also captured the incident in a video camera and had been threatening to make the video public if she made a police complaint.

Though the incident took place on July 19, the victim, a Class X student, approached the police only on Monday as the accused had also threatened to harm her and her family.

A Central Reserve Police Force constable and two minors are among those named by the girl.

According to the police, the girl told her mother about the incident on Monday after she had some health-related complications, apparently because of the sexual assault.

“Her parents then informed us. The victim told us that on the day of the incident she had gone to the government school she is enrolled in like regular days. However, her friend Pramod (19) arrived at the school and told her that her mother had taken ill. Pramod offered to take her home. The girl sought permission from the school authorities to skip the remaining classes and left with Pramod on his motorcycle,” said a police officer.

It is alleged that instead of driving her home, Pramod took her to a room in the area where the CRPF constable Surat, two minors and one other person were already present.

The five then allegedly took turns to rape her and when she protested, they threatened her with a gun. The girl was sent for a medical examination which confirmed the sexual assault.

“After the act, they asked her not to reveal about the incident to anyone and threatened to circulate the MMS video via the internet,” the officer added.

Even after the incident, she confronted the minors, who lived in the neighbourhood, but they asked her to keep shut and repeated their threat of making the incident public.

A case under relevant provisions of the Indian Penal Code and under Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act has been registered. So far Pramod and the two minors have been held.

However, neither the gun purportedly used in the crime nor the video footage has been recovered as the arrested accused claimed to have deleted it.
