RTC bus goes up in flames

July 30, 2014 12:25 am | Updated 12:25 am IST - HYDERABAD:

An RTC bus, Pushpak, went up in flames while on its way to Rajiv Gandhi International Airport in Shamshabad late on Monday night. The bus completely got gutted soon after getting off the PVNR Express Highway near Aramghar crossroads.

Four passengers and bus driver Laxminarayana managed to escape without injuries. The bus had barely covered 100 yards after getting off the Express Highway when the fire was noticed at the rear of the bus where the AC was fixed, the police said.

“Before the fire tender arrived, the flames engulfed the entire bus,” the ACP said on Tuesday. It took the firemen nearly 90 minutes to douse the flames.
