Just when “Evil Dead” fans thought they couldn’t get more excited, original trilogy star Bruce Campbell dropped some more news on them.
At Comic-Con last weekend, Sam Raimi announced that he’s bringing “The Evil Dead” to life once more with a TV series while at a panel discussing the movie adaptation of videogame “The Last Of Us,” which he’s producing. He’s planning to write and direct the project with his brother, Ivan Raimi, co-writing. He also mentioned that he was drafting Campbell to topline.
On Sunday, responding a fan’s question on Twitter, Campbell confirmed that he does indeed plan to return to the franchise to star in Raimi’s series.
“@DeaditeBill: Only if @GroovyBruce is the STAR of this new tv series will I accept.
That's the plan. pic.twitter.com/m7EkBFpl1b

It’s been more than three decades since the first “The Evil Dead” film spawned. It would go on to inspire two sequels and a 2013 reboot, which Campbell had a post-credits cameo in.
