Candy Café, the Café Jubilee sweet shop in Marsalforn, is reaching out to poor families and children in Peru through a collaboration with Centru Animazzjoni Missjunarju (MSSP) Malta, aimed at raising funds for building of adequate housing, providing safer environments, better healthcare and hygiene, proper education and shelters for poor abandoned children.
Alex Scicluna, CEO of the Jubilee Group of Companies, presented a set of T-shirts to a large group of Maltese and Gozitans who will travel to Peru for three weeks in August for voluntary work in MSSP projects that are currently underway in the country.
Mr Scicluna said “We strongly believe in reaching out to poorer communities around the world to help in whatever way we can. This year we are teaming up with CAM - MSSP Malta to help families and children in Peru. For many years, we have also taken a very active role in developing fish farms in Guatemala and raising funds to help provide food, shelter and education to several communities in Guatemala. There is no bigger satisfaction than watching children smile and be happy whenever they receive clothes or food and when they learn new things at school. Life for these children can be made better if only more of us come forward to offer their time, donations or basic goods. We wish Fr. Louis and all volunteers a very successful time in Peru”.
The Jubilee Group of Companies includes the Café Jubilee bistros in Gzira, Valletta and Victoria, Murella Pizzeria, the Piano Bar and Candy Café in Marsalforn, Gozo.
The MSSP missionary work in Peru includes providing food, shelter, healthcare and education to poor communities in remote areas. With the help of volunteers, the missionaries of St Paul build shelters, clinics and schools, while running a home for about 60 children. The Missionaries of St Paul also see to the spiritual needs of their parishes.

MSSP is also involved in other international charity projects in Pakistan and the Philippines. In Malta, MSSP runs the St. Joseph Home in St. Venera, Centru Animazzjoni Missjunarja, CAM Productions International, and the De Piro House of Formation, besides the oratory in Birkirkara and the retreat house in Zebbug, Gozo. MSSP runs the community at St Agatha in Rabat, where its College is housed together with a community of priests and brothers, an auditorium, an archaeological complex and a novitiate.
