Marvel and Mojang have confirmed that they plan to team up in order to deliver a new batch of skins to Minecraft, this time around themed around the popular Guardians of the Galaxy franchise.

Rocket Raccoon, Star Lord, Groot, Drax and Gamora will all make an appearance in the Xbox One and Xbox 360 versions of the popular survival building game Minecraft, and for now there is no word on whether you will be able to harvest Groot and use him as building material. Most likely not.

The new skins have been confirmed via Twitter by Marvel editor Ben Morse, and they are due out soon, maybe even in time for the movie's premiere on August 1, this Friday.

Microsoft Studios' Roger Carpenter, who served as lead producer on both Xbox editions of Minecraft, has corroborated Morse's announcement, confirming that the upcoming Minecraft: Xbox One Edition will also get the Guardians of the Galaxy skin pack.

The Xbox versions of Minecraft are being handled by developer 4J Studios, and the video game maker has a long-standing partnership with Marvel Comics. This will mark the third occasion on which comic book-themed skin packs are released for Minecraft, previous offerings including Spider-Man skin packs, as well as general Marvel characters such as Iron Man, Captain America, Thor and others.

Minecraft is coming to the Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and PlayStation Vita platforms this August.
