Anti-Israel protesters clash with forces in Kashmir
Jammu and Kashmir police has placed various Hurriyat leaders under house arrest to prevent any trouble on the occasion of Eid-ul-Fitr. Mirwaiz Umar Farooq who was supposed to lead a congregation at Eidgah was barred from moving out of his Nigeen residence. Mirwaiz has condemned the government decision to bar him from offering Eid prayers.

“Mirwaiz wasn’t allowed to come out of home in Old city for Eid prayers,” Hurriyat Leader Shahid-ul-Islam told Mirror Hurriyat (G) Chairman Syed Ali Shah Geelani who is under house arrest since his return from New Delhi. While under continuous house arrest Geelani addressed people of Khojabagh Baramullah through telephone and also appealed to people to join Hurriyat and make it a strong base. Geelani had urged people to hold peaceful anti-Israel protests after Eid prayers.

According to police sources, to prevent anti-Israel and pro-freedom rallies in Kashmir valley, separatist leaders were placed under house arrest.

Anti-Israel and pro-freedom rallies were held across Kashmir. Several youths were injured when security forces used force to quell anti-Israel protest in South Kashmir’s Anantnage town. Youths threw stones on a CRPF bunker during a march in Janglat Mandi area of Anantnag town after Eid prayers today. CRPF responded with tear gas shelling in which several youth reportedly sustained injuries.

Soon after the Eid nimaz hundreds of people at Eidgah Humhama participated in the anti-Israel protests. Protesters were marching towards Hyderpora area. Stone pelting and tear gas shelling was reported from Hyderpora Srinagar.

Similar anti-Israel and Pro-Gaza rallies and protests were reportedly held in Bijbehara, Kulgam, Awantipora, Tral, Pampore, Pulwama and Shopian areas as well.
