3M Scratch and Scuff Removal Kit

Available at: Canadian Tire, Wal-Mart

Price: $23

Are you like me and park at the end of the lot to avoid getting dinged? One day I didn't and, sure enough, someone opened their car door and hit my door, leaving a nasty scuff. It's too minor to take to a shop but big enough to bug me. Finally, I bought the 3M Scratch and Scuff Removal Kit.

The directions state that this product is for scratches in the clear coat and not deeper. If you run your fingernail over the scratch and it doesn't catch, this should do the job. I followed the directions carefully, testing it on the truck first because there is no hope for the paint on that work horse.

I could not believe my eyes. Within two minutes, I'd removed all evidence of a few light scratches from driving through trees. I had confidence to move over to the car. A little rubbing with the wet sand paper was followed by the foam pad with rubbing compound and then the scratch remover. A soft coat of wax – and my door was as good as new. And there is plenty of product for future use. If I'd done this two years ago, the swear jar would be a lot emptier.
