No prize for guessing that we are indeed referring to none other than Sanjay Dutt. Yes, the actor who is often reckoned with a lot many successful films in Hindi cinema, is currently leading a tough battle in Yerawada prison, Pune. On his birthday, let`s take a look at his journey so far. The son of legendary actor-parents—Sunil Dutt and Nargis, Sanju (as he is fondly called) stormed the nation with his début performance in the 1981 film `Rocky`. The 55-year-old actor had no looking back after his first outing at the Box Office. He starred in a number of films, which fetched him stardom instantly. Movies such as `Vidhaata`, `Jeete Hain Shaan Se`, `Naam`, `Kabzaa` and 1989 J.P. Dutta film `Hathyar` were some of the films which got him critical as well as commercial success. In early 90s, films such as `Sadak` and `Saajan` made Dutt a household name and proved his acting versatility. It was Subhash Ghai`s `Khal Nayak` which made him immensely popular in a grey character. However, before its release, Dutt was arrested, charged with involvement in the 1993 Mumbai bombings. What followed post that incident was a roller-coaster ride for the actor. Apart from his professional life being hit by this sudden arrest, Dutt`s personal life too was majorly at a loss. His first wife Richa Sharma died due to brain tumour in 1996. He has a daughter named Trishala from his first wife. Dutt married Rhea Pillai in 1998 but the marriage didn`t last for long and the couple got divorced in 2005. Dutt is now married to Maanyata and they have twins—boy named Shahraan and a girl named Iqra. The actor is at present in Pune`s Yerawada Jail, serving the remaining 42 months of his sentence for illegal possession of arms in a case related to the 1993 serial blasts, in which over 250 people were killed and several hundred wounded.
