5 Congress ZP members expelled

The Congress on Monday expelled five members of the Chitradurga Zilla Panchayat from the party for a period of six years for indulging in anti-party activities during elections to the post of president and vice-president of the ZP.

The expelled members are Giri M. Janakal, Anita Basavaraju, Parvathamma, Mahalingappa and Sujatha.

Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee president G. Parameshwara, in a press note, said five ZP members voted against the official candidates of the party.
