Kin seek action against doctor, nurse for negligence

BAHRAICH: A nurse on duty in children's ward in district hospital allegedly kept on sleeping and two children died for want of treatment on Sunday.
The irate family members created ruckus in the hospital and demonstrated by keeping the bodies there. The chief medical superintendent (CMS) and the police reached there and tried to pacify the family members.
The agitated kin demanded action against the nurse. The CMS had sought explanation from the nurse. The father of one of the children lodged a complaint against the nurse. The family members of another girl accused a doctor of negligence and demanded action against him
Akansha (6), daughter of zila panchayat member Ram Suresh Yadav, a resident of Nejabhar village in Payagpur, was suffering from fever. She was admitted in district hospital on Sunday night.
At midnight, the condition of the girl deteriorated. Yadav called nurse for help but she kept on sleeping in the room at the hospital. He reached the emergency OPD where EMO, Dr R K Basant, examined Akansha and prescribed an injection to be purchased from outside.
When Ram Suresh returned with injection, no one was available there to administer it. He kept on running from children's ward to emergency ward for half-an-hour. At 6 am on Monday, a wardboy administered the injection to Akansha but she died after an hour. Another girl Archana (4), a resident of Bhadrakha village in Khairighat, also died in district hospital for want of treatment.
Her family members alleged the doctor and paramedical staff of laxity in treatment. The two families demanded action against the nurse and the doctor. CMS Maheshwari Pandey told that Akansha was brought to the hospital in a critical condition. But the matter would be probed. Action would be taken against the doctor and the nurse.
