VJ-Television host Andy, who gained popularity with controversial celebrity reality show ‘Bigg Boss’, is all set for another reality check. This time, however, Andy has put on his dancing shoes and is set to challenge other celebs on dance reality show ‘Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa’.

Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa will go on air with its new season in June.

Speaking exclusively to The Indian Express, Andy talks about his ‘Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa’ aspirations, impressing the judges, his competitors and more.

Andy, who also co-hosted ‘India’s Got Talent’, said he opted for ‘Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa’ as his fans wanted to see him on TV.

Andy said, “Audience has been asking me on social media and everywhere else I went that when do we get to see you on TV. ‘Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa’ was an option for me. Once I was offered ‘Jhalak’, I was quite happy to go ahead with it.”

Festive offer

Andy, who was often seen dancing to ease his tension in ‘Bigg Boss’, also talked about his dancing abilities. Andy said that he has a dance background.

He said, “A lot of people think I have a dance background and that’s true. But I had danced 12 years ago so I’m not that a dancer anymore.”

“I’m sure if a surgeon was asked to operate after 10 years even he wouldn’t be able to it either. I’m same,” he reasoned. But Andy is ‘happy to learn’ and “I want to move on and I want to find that fitness level in me.”

Talking about the dance skills of his competitors on the show, Andy said, “Everyone in this competition is coming from their own background and they are coming with their own knowledge and set of skills – whether that’s dance or not. Everyone knows what they are getting into.”

We have seen that Andy was a confident contender in the Bigg Boss House, and carrying this forward he feels that before anyone else he is his own threat on the show. “I’m my own threat because I need to keep my mental space correct then only I can get ahead in this competition.”
Talking about others being a threat, Andy said, “I’m not sure. At the moment everyone is a threat since we don’t what what everyone is capable of. Saying that, I don’t really think of people as threat rather as personalities. So we are all at an equal footing in the beginning.”

When asked if professional dancers such as Shakti Mohun and Sophie Choudry should be a part of a dance competition show, Andy said, “Sophie is not a professional dancer, she is a professional pop star. She takes her music videos in takes like a Bollywood heroine would. Shakti Mohan is a dancer herself and a talented one too, so why shouldn’t she choose a dance show?”

Andy also spoke about his chemistry with his choreographer-partner for the show. “My choreographer partner is Bhavani Mishra. She is a choreographer from Delhi and is very very talented. We are getting on so well. Our thought patterns and way of thinking are so similar. Especially when it comes to the body as I have to get fit and she is helping me to do that and its amazing the way she is doing that. She really has understood my body and the problems that come with it. I’m very happy with her. I love the way she dances and love the way we create which is beautiful.”

The show, like its previous two seasons, will be judged by actress Madhuri Dixit, filmmaker Karan Johar and choreographer-filmmaker Remo D’Souza.

Talking about the judges, Andy said, that though none of three will be easy to please, but he will try to charm Madhuri Dixit.

“None of judges will be easy to please because they all come from their separate backgrounds of dance and none of the three will be easy to please. But I’m going to try my charm at them and see if they give a few points extra just if I wink at them! Madhuri ji.. pls.. perfect!!
On a concluding note Andy sent a message to his competitors, “Aye ungli mat dikhana .. just kidding…” on a serious note he said, “Good luck you are going to need it.”
