GHAZIABAD: Ghaziabad police on Monday arrested a 38-year-old daily wager on charges of trying to enter the Hindon Air Force station using a forged identity card. The labourer, identified as Amit Sharma, is a resident of Baghpat district in western UP. An FIR has been lodged against him under sections 420 and 467 of the IPC and relevant sections of the Air Force Act.
Sharma was apprehended by air force personnel during his attempt to enter the air force base. He was subsequently handed over to the local police. Police investigations have revealed that Sharma was earlier employed for odd jobs within the air force compound. During this period, he had chanced upon a stray identity card within the campus, on which he had stuck his photograph to forge a ID in his name.
Police said investigations have so far not revealed by ulterior motive by the intruder, though chances of attempted sabotage have not been ruled out. “We are trying to ascertain how Amit managed to make the duplicate identity card. Further investigations are on,” said Shiv Hari Meena, SP (City), Ghaziabad.
