Airtel crosses 300m users across ops
NEW DELHI: Sunil Mittal-led Bharti Airtel said on Monday it has crossed 300-million subscriber mark across its mobile, fixed line, DSL and DTH services.
The company, which began operations in 1995, had crossed the 100 million mark in 2009 and 200 million in 2012. The latest 100 million customers have been added within two years. “This milestone underlines the strength of our operations, which is one of the largest on a global scale,” Bharti Airtel MD and CEO (India and South Asia) Gopal Vittal said.

Bharti Airtel has operations in 20 countries across Asia and Africa. “Today, telecom is at the cusp of transformation. Going forward, it will be driven as much by the force of technology as by the changing demographics in emerging markets across Asia and Africa. Accelerated data consumption by the youth is going to be the underlying story,” Vittal said.
