Cindy Helton is the new executive director of the Suncoast Credit Union Foundation.
Helton’s responsibilities as executive director of the foundation include conceptualizing, developing and facilitating the implementation of projects, donations, grants and events related to Suncoast Credit Union’s commitment to the community, according to a statement.
Helton started her career at Suncoast Credit Union in 1976 as a member service intern and most recently served as member development director.
During her tenure, she executed core products and services such as the credit union’s first checking account program and debit card program, youth financial literacy initiatives and student-run branch program now numbering 35 locations on elementary, middle and high school campuses.
Additionally, Helton served for six years on the Academy of Finance board of directors and has led community efforts to provide internship opportunities for over 150 Academy of Finance students in Hillsborough County.
“Cindy has developed relationships within the school system and community and initiated many community programs benefiting the education, health and emotional well-being of children. We’re confident she will bring leadership and creativity into this position," Tom Dorety, president and CEO of Suncoast Credit Union, said in a statement.
