2 Cops Busted For Robbery

The two are being held for their alleged involvement in a robbery incident. The third person, an accomplice and a policeman as well, is said to be on the run.

The three were said to have robbed one Bernard Adjei Kanin of Ephederine drugs worth $60,000 at gunpoint.

Ephedrine is used for temporary relief of shortness of breath, chest tightness, and wheezing due to bronchial asthma.

Interestingly, the police seemed to have kept the issue under wraps since attempts to get detailed information from both the Tesano Divisional Police Commander, Chief Superintendent Aboagye Nyarko, and Greater Accra Regional Police Public Relations Officer (PRO), Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP), Freeman Tettey, proved futile.

They initially accepted to speak to the issue but refused to answer calls made to them.

DAILY GUIDE's police sources have however hinted that Lance Corporal Ramos Appiah Kyeremeh is stationed at the Lapaz police post whiles his colleague, Lance Corporal Aboagye is stationed at the headquarters of the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) in Accra.

The robbery was said to have taken place on Monday, July 7, 2014 at a spot close to the popular Demod joint at North Kaneshie in Accra, where the aforementioned policemen and their runaway accomplice accosted their victim.

They were said to have used two cars for the operation; one unregistered Pontiac Vibe and an unidentified taxi.

Upon stopping Kanin's vehicle, they allegedly loaded the drugs into the two cars and arrested him. They put him in one of the cars and drove to the premises of the Achimota Police station as if to detain him, but dropped him in front of the charge office and sped off.

The victim then entered the charge office to make an official complaint.

Ramos was subsequently arrested on Saturday, July 19, 2014 at an undisclosed location in Accra. His accomplice, Aboagye, was also arrested last week.
