Maruti Suzuki ramps up Celerio's Production; Waiting period to go down

Maruti Suzuki, the leading passenger car manufacturer in India is now looking forward to increase the production of its Celerio. The hatch is reportedly attracting a waiting period of four months and by increasing its production to 6,500 units a month from the present 4,500, the automaker is clearly on way to cut short the piling waiting period.

Maruti Suzuki Celerio was launched in the biennial event of 2014 Delhi Auto Expo and within two weeks of its launch, the hatch attracted an advance booking of 1400 - 1000 bookings per day. Till now, the company has received a booking of over 57,800 units out of which 25,000 models which constitutes to 43 per cent is accounted for the automated manual transmission (AMT) variant.

Interestingly, Maruti Suzuki India (MSI) imports its much talked AMT gearbox from an Italian auto component company Magneto Marelli. A spokesperson of MSI said, "We continue to try and increase the supply of the auto gear shift (Celerio) cars."
The delay from the auto company with the AMT gearbox is the main reason behind the increasing waiting period. Magneto Marelli, the Italian auto part maker even has a production plant situated in the Manesar, nearby Gurgaon.

As per the data available, the automaker retailed more than 22,000 units of the manual transmission and 7000 odd units of AMT variant up until now. 

On asked about the waiting period of Celerio, the spokesperson said that only the AMT model is attracting a waiting period of four months, while the manual transmission version is available on demand, except for some variants which could be around eight weeks (2 months).
Maruti is offering Celerio in the price bracket of Rs 3.76 lakh to Rs 4.78 lakh (Ex Showroom, Delhi) and recently the carmaker also launched a CNG variant at an Ex Showroom, Delhi price of Rs 4,68,517.
