Mayawati, FB & the desperation of UP politics

This is hilarious to say the least. Politicians and party leaders have a sworn reputation to get frivolous when it comes to promoting their interests. But talk about desperados. Amidst news of repeated attacks on the country's frail secular fabric in Uttar Pradesh, the BSP is riding the Facebook wave to do a leadership dipstick and failing miserably at that.

Here's what the news says: BSP's Facebook page has made party workers happy: 95 per cent of the respondents have endorsed BSP chief Mayawati as being a better leader than Uttar Pradesh CM Akhilesh Yadav. Even though only 160 people have voted so far, it is enough to boost the morale of a party that drew a blank in Uttar Pradesh in the recent Lok Sabha polls.
The self-promoting BSP verdict seems to be in stark contrast to what Facebook fans of India Today have to say. Nearly 350 of them have commented on the news and we are afraid, the findings would not please the BSP. And we can boast of a bigger sample size. Sample a few comments here:

But we cannot overlook what Behen Ji had done in the past. There was no electricity in entire UP. No roads and no development. Only statues of Dalits were constructed. But yes, law and order was much much better. No riots even the High Court verdict was facilitated over Ayodhya dispute. But UP doesn't need any of those. We want Amit Shah as our new CM.
Abhishek Tiwari : I think instead of cursing them it will better that when election happen next time in UP, u guyz votes for right candidates who is literate and understand things better... plz dont give your vote for your cast or religion !! u can see the fumes burning here because some of them in past not bother to vote and few who voted never bother to understand what really they miss out...
