BOKARO: Former labour minister and MLA of Vishrampur, Chandrashekhar Dubey alias Dadai Dubey, on Sunday declared that he has taken 'sanyas (retirement)' from the politics.
"I was serving people for more than two decades, but in return I got nothing. The Brahmin community and the Muslims, whom I favoured all throughout, has not come out in my support.
It was sad and I found being in politics is worthless," he said.
Dubey made this announcement a day after resigning from Trinamool Congress (TMC). He started his career with Congress and was an MP of Dhanbad in 2005. He quit the party in 2014 parliamentary election after denied ticket from Dhanbad seat and joined TMC.
His political career received a huge jolt when he faced defeat garnering just about 30,000 votes in 2014 parliamentary election, which was less than 2009 election when he was second runners up getting more than a lakh votes.
Dubey said, "There are more than three lakhs Brahmins in Dhanbad but see how many votes I have got? My own community had not supported me. Similarly Muslims also ditched me. Besides, I joined TMC getting assurance from party chief Mamta Banerjee that he will topple the state government after parliamentary election. But here too, I got cheated as TMC MLAs Bandhu Tirkey and Chmara Linda made a pact with JMM and supported the government. Such experiences in politics forced me to leave politics forever".
