Exynos-Powered Samsung GALAXY S5s Get A Firmware Update In India

The changelog sneakily mentions ‘improved performance’.

Samsung is reportedly pushing out updates to its Exynos-powered GALAXY S5 smartphone. The update changelog simply mentions the words ‘improved performance’ and we hope that it does deliver the same, considering the horrible gaming performance that we noticed while testing the device.

The update is indeed not too massive, but is not small in size either at 210 MB. Those who have recieved the update seemed to have noticed nothing new, apart from a few changes in the fingerprint scanning software.

The Exynos version of the GALAXY S5 indeed had a ton of problems when we had it over for reviewing. The lag problem got solved with a minor update which was immediately available upon launch in India. But the gaming performance of the device is clearly questionable, especially with that flagship pricing.

Still then the handset did impress us with its camera performance along with its dust and water resistance capabilities. With the Note 4 launch nearing, it is indeed surprising that Samsung (being Samsung) is still providing updates for its long lost flagship. Still then it is a good sign for those who fell for it in the first place, now that the Snapdragon-powered LTE version is finally out.
