SAMBALPUR: Though an allegation of ragging did the rounds at Veer Surendra Sai (VSS) University of Technology at Burla, officials rubbished it.
"We have not received any formal complaint either from any student or parents. So unless we receive any complaint it becomes difficult for us to initiate action," said vice-chancellor B K Nanda.
But the university sources said that the disciplinary committee has found indiscipline among some senior students staying in hostels.
Nanda said that the university is quite serious on the issue as it does not allow any type of indiscipline inside the institution.
He confirmed that some students were found creating nuisance and members of the disciplinary committee caught them during a surprise visit. "We have asked the disciplinary committee to submit a report on it and we will take action after receiving the report," Nanda said.
Varsity sources for maintaining discipline, the students have been asked not to bring motorcycles, smoke or booze inside the hostels. But members of the committee found some students boozing in the hostels. "We found two students guilty," a member of the disciplinary committee said.
