Indian equities are trading flat in opening trade on Monday. At 9.17 a.m., the Sensex was trading down 4.80 points or 0.02% at 26,121.95 with 14 components falling. Meanwhile, the Nifty was trading lower by 73.10 points or 0.94% at 7,717.35 with 22 components falling.
The 30-share benchmark index, BSE Sensex opened with a gain of 46.72 points or 0.18% at 26,173.47.
Top gainers were Sun Pharma (0.94%), Axis Bank (0.96%), Tata Steel (0.74%), and Hero Motocorp (0.68%).
Major losers were TCS (1.65%), Tata Motors (1.60%), Coal India (0.65%), and RIL (0.63%).
The BSE Mid and small caps declined 0.11% and 0.03% respectively.
The Metal index was at 13,258.45, up by 58.35 points or by 0.44%. The FMCG index was at 7,184.93, up by 27 points or by 0.38%. The Bankex index was at 17,606.84, up by 63.85 points or by 0.36%.
