Scores of INLD workers join BJP in Kalka

Kalka, July 27
The district unit of the BJP organized a ‘Samman Samaroh’ here today. Rattan Lal Kataria, MP from Ambala, claimed that he will take up the issue of workers of HMT in the parliament shortly. To take a stock of the situation, the minister of the department concerned will visit the HMT after August 15 and hear grievances of general public in this regard, Kataria added.

Kataria also appealed to the people to vote for BJP candidate in the Vidhan Sabha election for overall development of the area.

Kataria also welcomed scores of Indian National Lok Dal (INLD) workers, who joined the BJP expressing their solidarity with Virander Singh Bhau, a former president of Zila Parishad and a BJP leader.

Those who joined the BJP include Ram Krishan, Sucha Ram, Darshan Lal Sharma, Tarsem Lal, Joginder Chaudhary, Ram Karan, Randeep Bunty, Bahadur Singh, Mukthar Singh, Manjeet Singh, Amrik Singh, Ramesh Kumar, Kulbir, Gurdev Singh, Surinder Singh, Gurjant, Achar Pal, Rinku, and some others.

Virander Singh Bhau also listed problems ailing Kalka, Pinjore and HMT. Focusing on poor sanitation, sewerage, traffic jams because of long pending road connectivity. He also stressed on growing unemployment among the youth in the Kalka region.

Kanwar Pal Gujjar, senior BJP leader and Ram Gopal Mehta, Haryana Janhit Congress (HJC) leaders while speaking on the occasion said the work done in the constituency will be the decisive factor in the forthcoming polls.

The leaders also blamed the Congress for not delivering promises made to the people.

Vishal Seth, president, BJP unit, Panchkula and Sanjeev Kaushal, president, Pinjore, and some other BJP leaders were also present on the occasion.

Brother Meredith Football Tournament
DPS outplay St Kabir School

In a neck to neck match, team of Delhi Public School (DPS),Sector 40, defeated St. Kabir School, Sector 26, during a match of Brother Meredith Football Tournament for boys (U-14) held at St John’s School, Sector 26, here today.

DPS side started their campaign on an attacking mode and soon achieved success, Arnav coming forward scored the first goal in the 11th minute. Left-in Arnav after taking full possession of pass, marched ahead towards rival’s area and smartly placed the ball over the goal line. After taking the lead, DPS side continued to play at pace and again strike with right-half Arjit scoring the second goal in the 19th minute. After maintaining a two goal lead the DPS side started to play calmly however their momentum was halted in the 35th minute by Kabir’s Dayakaran. He reduced the margin, in the 35th minute, with initiating a solo effort. He claimed the goal after stopper back of DPS side failed to clear the ball. Taking its full advantage, he successfully dodged defence line of the DPS. Thereafter, the Kabir side continued to put in hard effort to make a comeback however lack of proper-finishing, ruined the team’s effort.

In the second match of same age group, AKISPS School, Sector 45, blanked Tribune Model School, Sector 29, 3-0. Within a span of first 25 minutes, the winning side pumped in three goals to unstable Tribune Model’s momentum. Manav scored the first goal in the 12th minute while Gurjot doubled the lead in the 15th minute. Later in the 25th minute, Gurjot scored the final goal.

In a match of boys (U-11) side host St. John’s (A) team defeated Vivek High School, Sector 37, 6-0. In a one sided match, Pranav Puri opened his team’s account in the 2nd minute followed by quick goals in 7th minute through Shourya Chopra, 11th and 15th minute strike by Devid, 20th minute contribution by Keten and 29th minute final goal by Shourya Chopra.

Lake Sports Complex: Workers accuse GM of harassment

In a written submission to the Advisor to UT Administrator, Finance-cum-sports secretary and Director Sports, the Lake Sports Complex Workers and Employees Union has alleged harassment by the general manager. The union, in the written complaint, has alleged that the general manager was harassing 29 workers employed under the Lake Sports Complex for past 14 years. The workers alleged that they were asked to perform undesignated duties from past many months.

“We are being harassed by the general manager from past many months. The gardeners are asked to perform labour works while qualified bar tenders are asked to look after accounts work and head reception of the complex. The gatekeepers are asked to manage parking lots of the complex. We are being humiliated,” said Gurmail Singh, general secretary of the union. “Everything is being performed as per rules and regulations. There is no such complaint and all the workers are performing their respective duties in good manner. All the workers are like a family and everything is fine at the complex,” said Tejinder Dhillon, manager, Lake Sports Complex.

Sources maintained that the meetings to resolve the issue were under process. Last month rowers of the Punjab Rowing Association had also staged a protest and later submitted a written complaint to director, sports, UT Administration, and at the grievance window of Chandigarh police, after they were allegedly stopped from entering their practice premises due to alleged tussle between the general manager and a coach of the association. The general manager of the club maintained that the players were never stopped from practising at the complex however but it was the coach who was not allowed to enter after he failed to produce the membership card as per rules.

Football tourney: Prashant propels Dehradun to victory

The Dehradun Football Club defeated Jalandhar Football Club by a solitary goal to win the North Zone final of Bajaj Allianz Junior Football Camp, Season 5, concluded at football grounds of Panjab University, here this evening. The winning team bagged the prize money of Rs 75,000. Prashant Rawat scored the only goal for the winner’s side and helped the team to achieve the feat.

On other hand, Rahul Atwal from Jalandhar team has been selected amongst 75 finalists from North Zone to represent India at the international Allianz Junior Football Camp to be held in Munich, Germany, in association with FC Bayern Munich during the month of August.

The final matches of North Zone leg witnessed 75 finalists playing in five teams Jalandhar, Dehradun, Delhi, Chandigarh and Lucknow. The winners were selected on the basis of their football skills by panel of judges headed by Harjinder Singh, former captain, Indian team. This year, five players from all zones will be selected for the international football camp to be held in Munich, Germany, in August. The camp will be organised in association with Allianz, the official partner of FC Bayern Munich. The selected players from all zones will also get train under FC Bayern Munich coaches.
