After six years of legal wrangling and pushback from competitors, Mile High Cab got on the road Sunday, said the company’s president, Mekonnen Gizaw.

“We have worked hard and have overcome many obstacles to earn this opportunity,” he said. “This is our American Dream.”

The Aurora-based service received permits for 150 cabs from the Colorado Public Utilities Commission in March, after years of challenges from competitors and contentious battles over ownership.
