Bangalore students sway to win global laurels
BANGALORE: Shree Shravan B Chetty, student of a private school in Hebbal, maybe just 12 years old, but he has already impressed the global audience with his dance moves. He had another feather in his cap recently when he received laurels at a Dance World Cup held in Portugal.
Shravan was not alone in this victory. Joining him in bringing pride to Bangalore were other young boys and girls who represented Lourd Vijay's Dance studio (LVDS) and won four silver medals at the World Cup.

The dance studio's junior team participated in several categories, including ballet and demi-character, fusion ballet, hip hop and street dance, jazz and showdance, modern and contemporary, national and folklore dance, song and dance and tap dance. The team also won the silver and the bronze at the Dance World Cup in Brighton, England, last year.
Khush T Shah (14), Katyayni Singh (12), Melvin Tseng (15), Neha Prasad (13), Ananya Prasad (10), Aadyaa Madhu (15) and Tanisha Mahesh (14) are the other students who won prizes in different categories.
"It was an awesome experience...It was a lot of fun to spend the time with the group and the whole team of dancers... I was so elated when I heard our names being called. It was indeed a very proud moment to wave our Indian flag every time we won a medal," said Tanisha, a student of Venkat International School.
"This is a very encouraging sign for the performing arts and the standards that India is setting internationally especially in divisions like hip-hop and national folklore," officials from LVDS said.

Impressed with Indian team's performance, John Grimshaw, chairman of the Dance World Cup, invited them to perform at the Gala Closing ceremony, which is open for performances only by gold medal winners.
The World Cup
Over 15,000 children from around the world try to qualify for the final held annually in different locations. The earlier venues of the Dance World Cup include Sardinia, Paris and Villach.
