Police get 7-day custody of runaway principal
RAJKOT: Police have got seven-day remand of Dhaval Trivedi, the principal of Dipchand Gardi International School in Padadhari town, who was arrested recently from Punjab for eloping with two girls two years ago.
Trivedi, 52, was produced before a local court by state CID-crime police. He had eloped with two class XI girls, both aged 16, in July 2012.
Trivedi and the girls were nabbed by Punjab police from Budhlada village earlier this week.
Meanwhile, the two girls, who have refused to go with their parents, were sent to women's shelter home in Rajkot.
Investigating officials said that they would seek details from Dhaval about where he stayed in the last two years, who helped him and whether he sexually assaulted the girls.
Police are likely to get the girls medically examined to ascertain if Trivedi sexually exploited them.
