Laugh, and make others laugh. Laughing is a good yoga and relieves a person from all tensions. Let us crack jokes and laugh for a healthy life, said the Guntur Humour Club members.

Humour Club will organise ‘Hasya Vallari’ programmes. The club members will make all efforts to explain the importance of smiling to different sections in the society. “Every day we will meet early in the morning, crack jokes, explain funny incidents and start the day with laughing,” said Guntur Humour Club founder president Shaik Lal Vazeer.

“Many persons who are in depression with family, finance and other problems got a new life after joining the humour club. Laughing will keep a man or a woman away from diseases,” Mr. Vazeer told The Hindu on Monday.

First anniversary

“We began humour club with a few members in April 2013. But now the club membership has crossed 500. We are preparing to celebrate the first anniversary of Guntur Humour Club on third Sunday of April,” said a club member Tulasi.

The club will organise ‘Hasya Vallari’ programmes which include, mini plays, comedy shows, stage plays and explain funny incidents. The programmes will deliver a good message like prevention of ragging, save girl child, stop consuming alcohol, protect environment, raise greenery, conserve fuel and natural gas, respect parents and elders, unity, national integration and other slogans, which also include comedy.

Good exercise

“We performed shows in a few schools and engineering and medical colleges and organised programmes for police personnel in the last one year. Many students, businessmen, housewives, doctors, lecturers and intellectuals are our club members. Our aim is to form a healthy society,” Mr. Lal Vazeer said.

“It was scientifically proved that laughing is important to lead a healthy life, and doctors advise the same. Like yoga, walking, playing games, swimming and jogging, laughing is a good exercise. So, please keep laughing,” said the club founder president.
