Parents allege son killed by friends

The victim and seven of his friends went out on a picnic
Hyderabad: A day after Subramaniam, 21, a BTech student, drowned in a quarry pit at Kotwalguda in Shamshabad, his parents alleged that his friends killed him. Though they were very much present with him at the time of the accident, they didn’t save him.
The victim and seven of his friends went out on a picnic on Saturday to Kotwalguda. They consumed liquor and in an inebriated state Subramaniam got into the water for a swim.
Minutes later, the victim accidentally drowned as he didn’t know swimming.
The victims’ parents approached the Rajiv Gandhi International Airport police and complained that they suspect their son’s friends were behind his death. However, police is yet to register a case.
“We inquired with his friends about the incident. In fact, a few of them also tried to rescue him. But when he started to pull them inside, they got scared and became helpless. For now we have registered a case of suspicious death and are investigating the case from all possible angles including allegations,” said Mr T.Sudhakar, inspector RGI Airport police station.
Meanwhile, the victim’s body was retrieved from water on Sunday and was shifted to hospital. A post-mortem was conducted on the body before it was handed over to his family.
