The villagers themselves gave it the name, following the actor's generosity
Recently, actor Suresh Gopi visited a village named Gonchiyur in Attappady.
He got to know of the widespread consumption of illicit alcohol in the village and took it upon himself to educated the villagers on its ill effects. He also promised them financial aid, as a result of which the villagers were much impressed. They decided to name it Suresh Gopi village, following the positive changes which took place there following the visit.
