Newly-married raped, murdered

KANPUR: A 21-year-old woman was allegedly raped and murdered in Farrukhabad district on Friday. She was married barely a month-and-a-half back. The incident was reported from Hoteypur village under the limits of Kampil police station.
According to reports, on Friday morning, the victim had gone to nearby fields and never returned. Her semi-naked body, with strangulation marks on the neck, was recovered from the jungle, the police said.According to preliminary findings, the woman was strangled to death after rape. The body was sent for post mortem and a probe was initiated to nab the accused, police said. A complaint was registered against unidentified persons by victim’s father, police said, adding, few youths from the village were taken into custody for interrogation.
Kampil station incharge KB Singh said the woman was married to a man from Nagla Nainsukh village under the Ganj Dundwara police station of Kasganj on June 6, 2014. “She was unwell for the past few days and had come home along with her husband in Hoteypur village about 10 days ago,” he said. The incident came to light when villagers went to the jungle area and discovered the body with blood oozing from her nose and serious strangulation marks on the neck. Worried, they rushed to her parents’ house and apprised them of the incident.
Police said they have found certain clues that point towards a few village hoodlums and said assailants would be nabbed soon.
A senior police official said that the police have recovered a mobile phone and two SIM cards near the body. “We are also taking help of electronic surveillance to crack the gruesome murder,” he said while talking to TOI. The investigators also found broken ornaments, including gold chain and ear-rings about 10 to 15 feet from the body.
