Were Jacqui Lambie not so wet behind the media-ears, her controversial radio comments would have caused barely the slightest ripple of controversy.

Would anyone have complained if, for example, she quoted George Orwell's "All Animals are equal, but some animals are more equal than others"? It may be a difficult truth to swallow, but it's more difficult to argue against.

Few figures in art history are as un-equal as the Spaniard Fransisco Goya, whose ground-breaking paintings and prints would inspire many generations of artists.

In footy there is no equal to the colossal figure of Dean Cox, who this week announced his retirement at season's end.

While the football world will rightly celebrate his great career, it's sad to think we'll never see the big fella on the park again.

And it's especially sad that we'll never again see the sign behind the Patersons Stadium goal, "We've got big Cox".
