Man kills mother over financial dispute

RAJKOT: Rajkot taluka police on Friday night solved the five-day old murder case of a woman in Hadmatia Golida village of Rajkot taluka. Police have arrested the deceased's own son for the crime.
Police said during interrogation, Hitesh Kakadia, 27, who was arrested on the basis of suspicion, confessed to having killed his own mother, Ranjan Kakadia, 49, following a financial dispute with her.
Police had recovered the body of Ranjan on July 21 from Hadmatia Golida. Her post mortem report revealed that she had been strangled to death. As jewellery on her body was intact, the case appeared to be that of murder and not of loot. Hitesh was under police's scanner from the beginning of the investigation as his behaviour was strange and he showed no remorse for his mother's demise.
"We kept a watch on him and traced his mobile call details. Following his call details, Hitesh was found in Hadmatia Golida on the day of the crime. We arrested him on the basis of suspicion and he confessed to his crime during interrogation," said a Rajkot taluka police official.
In his confession, Hitesh told police that he had a financial dispute with his mother.
He said that he had incurred a debt of Rs 40 lakh in cricket betting. To repay the debt he urged his mother to sell off their family land. However, his mother refused.
"On Monday night, Hitesh drove to his village in a car and called his mother. He took her to a highway and stopped the vehicle there. He told her mother that his car had broken down and he needed her help. When Ranjan got down, he attacked her from behind. He strangled her with a clutch wire to death. After this, he dumped her body at a farm," added the official.
