BHOPAL: Shaurya Smarak, a war memorial at Arera hills, is still awaiting inauguration as the construction work of the memorial is yet to be completed. The construction, which started around four years back is likely to be completed by the end of the year.
Built on 12 acres of land, the memorial houses a museum gallery and amphitheatre besides administrative building.

Jawahar Singh, superintending engineer, Capital Project Administration (CPA), Bhopal said, "Work on the Smarak started in 2010 and we completed the outer structure one and a half year ago. The interior work is yet to be completed by the department of culture. The work to install exhibits in the war gallery is underway. As soon as the work gets over, the memorial will be inaugurated and opened for public."
However, KK Singh, principal secretary, department of culture, said, "Work is going on to finalise the exhibits which are to be installed in the gallery. The work was handed over to us in April. Few things have to be changed and a lot needs to be done. Most probably, it will be inaugurated by the year end."
