Bayern and Wolfsburg to face in Telecom Cup final

Bayern Munich and Wolfsburg encounter in the Telecom Cup final as they overcame Monchengladbach and Hamburg on Saturday.

Bayern Munich as well as Wolfsburg advance on penalties into the final of the preparations tournament meanwhile Hamburg and Monchengladbach will play for the third place on Sunday.

German record champions Bayern Munich started highly motivated but squandered a 2-0 lead against Monchengladbach. However, the Bavarians had to wait until the 29th minute before new arrival Robert Lewandowski lobbed over "Foals" goalkeeper Janis Blaswich to open the scoring from inside the box.

Bayern kept the pace at the second half as Franck Ribery doubled the lead four minutes into the second half when he lobbed the ball into the far post angle from sharp angle.

With the 2-0 lead behind Bayern stopped their offensive actions meanwhile Monchengladbach pressed to pull one back. Bayern's Holger Badstuber allowed Monchengladbach to reduce the lead as the defender committed a handball to cause a penalty at the 42nd minute. Max Kruse stepped up and converted the penalty into the bottom left, making in 2-1 on the scoreboards.

However, Monchengladbach were not done with the scoring as Bayern caused another penalty. Javi Martinez lost the ball near the goal line and fouled Andre Hahn inside the box. Kruse stepped up for the second time and was again successful, this time into the bottom right.

Due to the two all draw the penalties had to bring the decision. Bayern kept their nerves as only Rafinha saw his ball saved whereas Monchengladbach's Oscar Wendt and Julian Korb failed to convert their penalties, ensuring a 5-4 win for Bayern Munich

Bayern will see Wolfsburg in the final as the "Wolves" defeated Hamburg at the penalties. Both team were unable to break the deadlock. Wolfsburg converted all their penalties while Hamburg' s Kerem Demirbay rattled the corner of the goalpost, sealing Hamburg' s 5-6 at the penalties.

Thus Bayern and Wolfsburg meet at the final whilst Hamburg and Monchengladbach battle for the third place on Sunday. Endi
