Seven heritage corridors for Old Hyderabad

The corporation plans to spend Rs 50 crore on beautification

Hyderabad: The old city will have seven permanent heritage corridors built before the Metropolis World Congress Meet, which is scheduled for October.

The four approach roads to the Charminar, the Musi waterfront, as well as roads around the Golconda and Qutub Shahi Tombs will form the corridors. They are aimed at enhancing the look of the heritage structures. The corridors will display the rich Hyderabadi culture.

A special engineering wing will be established for urban biodiversity. Date palm trees will be planted along the heritage corridors and leafy creepers on existing walls will improve the aesthetics.

The corporation plans to spend Rs 50 crore on beautification. GHMC has 20 nurseries under its jurisdiction and is planning to establish seven more nurseries in the current year.
