Alvida Namaz offered amidst tight security

VARANASI: The Alvida ki namaz was offered with religious fervour at different mosques in the city on Friday. Elaborate security arrangements were made on the occasion to avert any untoward incident during the prayers.
Huge gatherings of people were witnessed at all the mosques including Langra Hafiz, Nadesar, Police Line Crossing, Englishialine Road, Eidgah and Faatman.For the convenience of people traffic diversions were also made on different routes leading to mosques in the city.
The vehicles coming from Ghazipur were diverted from Ashapur while the vehicles crossing through Lat Bhairo were stopped near Kazzakpur railway crossing.
All vehicular movement was restricted on Godowlia-Maidagin, Nai Sadak-Dalmandi, Godowlia-Dashashwamedh routes.
As the festival of Eid-ul-Fitr is expected on July 29, great rush of people was seen in markets like Beniabagh, Nai Sadak and Dalmandi.
The shops remained open till late night.
