CCA Applauds Congress for Passing Device Unlocking Bill

(Targeted News Service Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) WASHINGTON, July 25 -- The Competitive Carriers Association issued the following news release: Today, the U.S. House of Representatives passed S. 517, the Unlocking Consumer Choice and Wireless Competition Act by voice vote. CCA (Competitive Carriers Association) commends Members for passing this important legislation which will allow consumers to legally unlock their devices for use on another network that best fits their needs and desires.

"I applaud Members of Congress, especially Chairman Leahy, Ranking Member Grassley, Chairman Goodlatte, Ranking Member Conyers and several other congressional leaders who have worked so diligently to restore consumers' rights to unlock devices," said Steven K. Berry, President & CEO of CCA. "CCA has long supported device unlocking; this is a good day for consumers and wireless carriers, especially smaller carriers who still have trouble accessing the most advanced devices." "All consumers, no matter where they live, work or travel, should have the ability to take the device of their choosing to the carrier that best meets their needs and desires. I thank Congress for working on this important consumer issue and taking this last step to send a bill to the President's desk."
