oko "Jokowi" Widodo-Jusuf Kalla presidential ticket spokesmanAnies Baswedan said that he was not thinking about the possibility of aministerial position when the ticket is inaugurated on Oct. 20 and was focusingon completing his tasks as spokesperson.
"I'm just going to finish my job on the campaign team. As soon as it's finished, I will return to my campus, at the end of July," the Paramadina University rector said in Jakarta on Saturday, according to kompas.com.
Anies was one of the choices for the position of youth and sports minister in an online survey created by Jokowi and his team. Other options included composer Adhie M.S. and former Yogyakarta mayor Herry Zudianto.
The survey was created to get public input on who would be involved in the new Cabinet.
Anies explained that he was not planning to chase after the position because he did not think the timing was right.
Furthermore, he said that Jokowi and Kalla had yet to discuss who would be suitable for the new Cabinet and were focused more on the required qualities of the new ministers.
"Jokowi wants someone who is clean, is capable and has a good track record. That's all we've talked about. Apart from that, we are focusing on the transition phase," he said. (fss)
