29 youths rescued, two agents nabbed

Sundargarh police rescued 29 youths while allegedly being trafficked to Goa on Thursday night.Two agents, Mantu Sae, 25, of Barpali and Gajendra Bhoi, 26, of Bargaon, were also arrested.

ROUKELA: Sundargarh police rescued 29 youths while allegedly being trafficked to Goa on Thursday night. Two agents, Mantu Sae, 25, of Barpali and Gajendra Bhoi, 26, of Bargaon, were also arrested.
After interrogating the youths, police on Friday informed their parents. The two agents were forwarded to court. "The youths were being taken to Goa to work as labourers at construction sites," SP (Sundargarh) Dayanidhi Gochayat said.
The SP was tipped off about trafficking of 30 youths and he directed SDPO (Sadar) Prasant Mohanty to rescue them. The SDPO along with IIC of Sadar police station Thakur Murmu, IIC of Talsara police station Pradip Jena and assistant labour officer B N Patnaik reached Karamdihi in Sundargarh around 8.30pm and flagged down a bus, which was on its way to Bhubaneswar from Balishankara.
Police identified the 29 youths, in the age group of 10 to 20 years, and the two agents. They were to board a train to Goa from Bhubaneswar, police sources added.
