NEW DELHI: Chaos ruled at
Kirori Mal College for hours as nearly 100 aspirants under
extracurricular activities and
sports categories turned up for
admissions on Friday.
While candidates claimed that they are been denied the subjects of their choice despite making it to the final list, college authority said the cap of 5% (including a subject-wise cap as per university rules) is responsible for the standoff. However, no such issues are being reported from other colleges which also follow the 5% supernumerary reservation policy for ECA/ sports admissions.
On Friday, the aspirants landed on the college campus after looking at the final list of shorlisted candidates put up by the college on its website. On being denied admission, the students and their parents met the acting principal, S P Gupta. The former joint secretary of Delhi University Students’ Union, Raju Rawat, also joined the students to press for their admissions.
Gupta, however, passed the buck to the university administration, saying that he has to act according to the rules.
