RAWALPINDI - The female students of private educational institutions grabbed top three positions, as the Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education Rawalpindi (BISER) announced results of secondary school certificate (SSC) annual examination 2014 on Friday.
According to details, Nimra Mumtaz of The Munir Public School, Chakwal, bagged the first position by scoring 1067 marks. Aateqa Hashmi of Siddiq Public School, Rawalpindi, with 1,057 marks got second position and Yusra Bint-e-Hafeez of Divisional Public School, Rawalpindi, grabbed the 3rd position by obtaining 1,054 marks.
A total of 119,000 students appeared in the annual examination and out of them 62,293 were declared successful with the overall pass percentage remained at 61.16. This was announced by Controller BISER Dr Umer Farooq at a ceremony held at the auditorium of Government Asghar Mall College here on Friday.
In science group (boys), Muhammad student of Military College Sarai Alamgir got the first position with 1,051 marks and Cadet College Choha Syedan Shah's student Waqar Ahmed remained second by scoring 1043 marks whereas Muhammad Muddasir Shaffique of Sir Syed Public School, Rawalpindi, bagged the third position with 1042 marks.
In general science group (girls), the first position was secured by Sana of Grammar Public High School for Girls, Rawalpindi, with 977 marks, followed by Shafaq Noor of the same school with 976 marks. Sana Rasheed of Government Girls High School, Nakodar, Jhelum, bagged third position by securing 969 marks.
In general science group (boys), Haroon Azam Noshahi of Jamia Qadria Warsia, Gujar Khan, got the first position with 930 marks. The second position with 912 marks was grabbed by Muhammad Mubarak of Government High School Sagri, Jhelum, and Hamza Nadim of Government Tableeg-ul-Islam School Jhelum was declared 3rd with 904 marks.
Awarding cash prizes, gold medals and certificates to position holders, the chief guest PML-N MPA Raja Hanif Advocate said that Chief Minister Punjab Mian Shehbaz Sharif had taken concrete steps for promotion of education in the province. He said that the position holders were not only obtaining prizes but they were also earning respect for the country.
The other speakers including PML-N MNA Begum Tahira Aurangeb, MPA Malik Iftikhar Ahmed, Engineer Qamar-ul-Islam and Dr Jamal Nasir congratulated the parents and position holders and said that CM provided best facilities to the students studying in government run school and they were competing with students of fully-quipped private schools. Earlier, BISER Chairman Dr Muhammad Zarif appreciated the performance of students. He said that board prepared the results in a transparent manner and on merit.
