Queer Pride March to be flagged off today

The march organised by various outfits associated with LGT communities

KOCHI:The fifth edition of the Queer Pride March will be flagged off by television anchor Ms Renjini Haridas in Kochi on Saturday. The march organised by various outfits associated with lesbian, gay and transgender communities is held in Kochi for the first time, the organisers said.

The march starting from the High Court Junction at 2 pm will culminate at Rajendra Maidan. The march will be followed by a public meeting and art evening at the Maharaja’s College auditorium.
The public meeting will be inaugurated by Kalki Subramaniam.

A memorandum signed by various sections of the society calling for the protection of rights of sexual minorities will be presented at the meeting. The memorandum will be presented to the legislators in the state later.
Social activists CR Neelakanthan, poet Anwar Ali, former MLA Rajaji Mathew Thomas, writers Rekha Raj, P Geetha and several others are scheduled to address the public meeting.
