Bribery, assault cry against BJP leader
NEW DELHI: A junior engineer at Delhi Jal Board has alleged that he was assaulted by supporters of a local BJP leader at Rajendra Nagar in central Delhi after he refused to give in to their demands of awarding a contract to one of them. Police said they are waiting for an official complaint from the DJB official.
According to the junior engineer, BJP leader R P Singh had called him and two other senior engineers to come and meet him for a discussion on a project in the area.
He said that he had reached the office earlier than his senior colleagues when the supporters of the leader asked him to meet Singh in his room. He said that as soon as he entered the room the supporters made him sit and allegedly asked him to award a construction contract to one of them. When he refused, the leader allegedly started threatening him. His supporters then thrashed him, he claimed. DJB officials said they registered a complaint with the Rajinder Nagar PS though police said that no official complaint was given by the victim. When TOI tried to contact Singh, he was unavailable.
