Council gives 'clean chit' to Nitish
PATNA: The Bihar legislative council on Friday unanimously gave a ?clean chit' to former CM and sitting MLC Nitish Kumar in connection with Thursday's ?unruly' incident inside the House in which he was accused of provoking one of his party colleagues to pick up fight with BJP members.
Earlier, a unanimous resolution was passed at an all-party meeting held at the council chairman's official chamber requesting Nitish to attend the House proceedings.

Nitish had decided not to attend the House until charges against him were taken back. He had said on Thursday, "I have never faced such a serious allegation during 30 years of my political career. I request the chairman to personally go through the video tapes and judge my conduct. It would be difficult for me to attend the House unless I get clean chit from the chair."
As soon as the House assembled for the day, chairman Awadhesh Narain Singh, expressing regret and pain over Thursday's clash, said, " ? The TV footage makes it clear that Nitish Kumar did not instigate anybody." He said Nitish was rather pacifying party members during the clash."
The chairman, while reading out the resolution, directed the council secretary to send a note requesting Nitish to attend the House.
CM Jitan Ram Manjhi, terming the Thursday incident as ?unfortunate', said, "Though I have experience of working with seven CMs during the last 34 years of my political career, I have never seen a person like Nitish Kumar, who has such a high commitment towards development. I consider him as my icon." Thanking the chairman for taking the initiative to resolve the crisis, Manjhi also requested the former CM to attend the session.

Leader of opposition in the council Sushil Kumar Modi described JD (U) president Sharad Yadav as his "political guru". "I respect Sharadji as my political guru," Modi said while regretting the Thursday's clash. He said he had personal and political association with Nitish Kumar, Lalu Prasad and Ram Vilas Paswan for over 40 years since his college days. "I respect Nitish Kumar from the core of my heart and request him to return to the House," Modi said. It was Modi who had accused Nitish Kumar of ?instigating' JD (U) members to pick a fight with BJP members in the House.
Both Neeraj Kumar (JD-U) and Rajnish Kumar (BJP) withdrew their respective notices seeking suspension of some party members, which was accepted by the chairman. Several other members also praised the chairman for resolving the crisis.
