Mamadou Zoungrana has been in Canada for two years and works as a medical technologist at a hospital in Buckingham, Quebec.
His wife and two sons, aged 13 and 6, finally had their paperwork to join him in Canada.
Their Air Algerie flight from Burkina Faso crashed in Mali. None of the 116 people on board survived.
Zoungrana says he is lost without them. He is returning to Burkina Faso tonight to be with his extended family, and to plan the funerals.
