Body of IT engineer found in Mayur Vihar flat

A team was sent to the spot. They broke opened the door and found the body of Sanjeev Kumar Pillai.

The body of a 35-year-old IT engineer was found in a flat in Mayur Vihar Phase-I on Thursday night. Police said the landlord of the flat had made a call to the police control room, saying the neighbour had complained of a foul smell from the flat. A team was sent to the spot. They broke opened the door and found the body of Sanjeev Kumar Pillai (36) in the bathroom. Police said a liquor bottle was lying next to it.

Investigating officers said the body was in a highly decomposed state. Pillai, police said, worked with with an online news agency in Noida. No suicide note has been recovered. Pillai stayed alone. Police also suspect that he may have been suffering from some ailment. Neighbours have told police that Pillai kept to himself and did not interact much with anyone.

DCP(East) Ajay Kumar said, “We have recovered a locked suitcase belonging to Pillai from the flat. We have informed his family members and will open the suitcase in their presence. Prima facie, there does not appear to be any foul play in the case. We are awaiting the post-mortem report. Once we get the report, we will proceed further.”
