The Bombay high court on Friday began hearing the suit filed by NTPC against Reliance Industries (RIL) for supply for natural gas under a 2004 agreement which RIL is disputing.

MUMBAI: The Bombay high court on Friday began hearing the suit filed by NTPC against Reliance Industries (RIL) for supply for natural gas under a 2004 agreement which RIL is disputing. NTPC claims a contract for supply of 12 mmscmd for 17 years. If the contract is not complied with, NTPC says it should be given damages to the tune of over Rs 56,000 crore.
The first witness for NTPC, its then deputy general manager Anil Agarwal, was cross-examined by RIL counsel Harish Salve.
Earlier, senior counsel Milind Sathe for RIL too questioned him.
