President, vice-president of Mandya ZP elected

Manjula Paramesh was elected president of the Mandya Zilla Panchayat.

Manjula Paramesh was elected president of the Mandya Zilla Panchayat.

Manjula Paramesh and Sujatha Nagendra of the Janata Dal (Secular) were unanimously elected president and vice-president respectively of the Mandya Zilla Panchayat on Friday.

Regional Commissioner M.V. Jayanthi was the election officer.

40-member ZP

The Janata Dal (Secular) is the single largest party with 24 members in the 40-member zilla panchayat.

The Congress has 14 members, while the Karnataka Rajya Raitha Sangha has one member. The zilla panchayat has an independent member.

The president post was reserved for BCM (B) woman category, while the vice-president post was reserved for general (women) category. The new president and vice-president will continue in office till February, 2016.
